John Corbett Music Studio

Historical Museum

Work in progress

Inspired By Passion

The John Corbett Music Studio was in operation from 1971 to 1984, and resided at 205b South Mulberry St, Elizabethtown, KY,  teaching piano.

Mr. Corbett had a Master’s Degree in Music Theory, earned at the University of Louisville. Piano was his specialty.

With this, he played classical music on piano, taught students of all skill levels, was Director of Music at St. James Catholic Church, played “lounge lizard” ambient music at Roadway Inn (now closed) in Louisville KY, and tuned pianos around the Hardin County area.

In addition to all of this, Mr. Corbett had a loving wife, 3 ½ children, a lustering backyard garden, and one sun worshiping Siamese cat.

Next door at this building, 205a South Mulberry, was Corbett Ceramics, operated by his dear mum, Mildred Corbett.

Sadly, Mr. Corbett succumbed to lymph node cancer on February 12, 1988.

The building was eventually sold, torn down, and turned into a parking lot.  🤬

The lot can be purchased, the building re-built, pianos and ceramics repopulate the interior, with tons of knick-knacks to add the charm these two stores once had.

If anybody has photos of themselves taking piano lessons here, or with Mr. John Corbett in general, please email them to us with a description of what is happening in the photo, and we will publish them here.

Sending photos to us gives us permission to add them to this webpage.

We will also receive photos of Corbett Ceramics to be added on another website later on.
